Tsade (Tsadik)Tsade is another character that has a sofit version which only appears at the end of sentences. This is the medial letter that would appear in the middle of a sentence:
Both the medial and sofit versions of the character are pronounced like the 'zz' in the middle of 'pizza' or the 'tz' in 'chintz'. In some academic works, you might see it transliterated as an 's' but the 'zz' or 'tz' version (the latter is commonly favored by non-native speakers) are more widely used nowadays. If however you see either Tsade or Tsade sofit appear with an apostrophe next to it, it changes the sound of the character to be more like 'ch' as in 'much' or 'chocolate'.
